Promoting the continuous improvement of working and study conditions of the entire university community is one the basic principles and goals of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena. The UPCT Service of Occupational Hazards (Servicio de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales de la UPCT) has published a "Risk Prevention Manual for new students" (Manual de acogida al estudiante en materia de prevención de riesgos), which may be downloaded from the e-learning platform ("Aula Virtual"), with instructions and recommendations on how to act properly, from the point of view of prevention (safety, ergonomics, etc.), when developing any type of activity at the University. You will also find recommendations on how to proceed in an emergency or if an incident occurs. Particularly when carrying out training practices in laboratories, workshops or field work, you must follow all your teacher's instructions, because he/she is the person responsible for your safety and health during practice performance. Feel free to ask any questions you may have and do not put your safety or that of your classmates at risk.
Class in conventional classroom: theory, problems, case studies, seminars, etc
Expository classes in which, in addition to the lecturer's presentation, doubts formulated by the students or detected by the lecturer are resolved, intercalated with practical examples and questions are posed to be resolved by the students (with or without marking). Two midterm exams, one per semester, with theoretical and/or practical exercises and questions. Multiple-choice assessment activities (quizzes), if any, will include a penalty for incorrect answers equal to or greater than the probability of guessing the correct answer at random. Students will be given the opportunity to keep the grade obtained in each of the midterm exams throughout the academic year and will not be required to take the corresponding final assessment activity in order to pass the course. However, completion of all or part of the corresponding activity in the final assessment system will mean that the student renounces the grade obtained in that activity in the continuous assessment system for that exam session.

Attendance and participation in classes, as well as other online or non-face-to-face activities, may be assessed. This may also include completing exercises set by the teacher during classes or answering multiple-choice questionnaires. Some of these activities may be carried out in groups. Multiple-choice assessment activities (quizzes), if any, may include a penalty for incorrect answers equal to or greater than the probability of guessing the correct answer at random. Spoken or written exams
The two midterm exams will be combined into a written exam (80%), which will indicate which sections correspond to each of them, maintaining the weightings established in the Continuous Assessment System.
Activity "Evaluación de la participación y actividades prácticas individuales y/o grupales" will be assessed by means of a written exam (20%) with theoretical and practical questions, which may include multiple-choice questions. Incorrect answers will be penalised by a mark equal to or greater than the probability of answering correctly at random. Learning outcomes RA8 and RA35.
Grades obtained in the final assessment system are not kept for the extraordinary session.
