Promoting the continuous improvement of working and study conditions of the entire university community is one the basic principles and goals of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena. Such commitment to prevention and the responsibilities arising from it concern all realms of the university: governing bodies, management team, teaching and research staff, administrative and service staff and students. The UPCT Service of Occupational Hazards (Servicio de Prevención de Riesgos Laborales de la UPCT) has published a "Risk Prevention Manual for new students" (Manual de acogida al estudiante en materia de prevención de riesgos), which may be downloaded from the e-learning platform ("Aula Virtual"), with instructions and recommendations on how to act properly, from the point of view of prevention (safety, ergonomics, etc.), when developing any type of activity at the University. You will also find recommendations on how to proceed in an emergency or if an incident occurs. Particularly when carrying out training practices in laboratories, workshops or field work, you must follow all your teacher's instructions, because he/she is the person responsible for your safety and health during practice performance. Feel free to ask any questions you may have and do not put your safety or that of your classmates at risk.

Spoken or written exams
Written exam structured in three parts.
1) The first part is a multiple choice test, corresponding with the multiple test in the continuous evaluation system, with a maximum of 20 three-choice questions of which only one is correct.
This part accounts for 30% of the marks of the evaluation.

2) The second part of the exam, corresponding with the evaluative activities scheduled for the practical sessions, consist of 3 short-answer type questions. This part of the exam accounts for 30 % of the marks of the evaluation.

3) The third part of the exam, corresponding with the report activity in the continuous assessment
system, consists of 2 essay-type questions. It accounts for 40% of the marks of the evaluation.

Modality 1 (only available in ordinary calls)
a) Practical work and class participation (30%):
The instructor will propose the study and commentary of practical cases focused on the topics covered in the program. These cases will be debated by students.
b) Writing up and presentation of an essay (40%):
The essay will respond to a specific question posed by the instructor. It will be presented in class and also as a written report of no more than 4000 words.
c) An optional written test (30%)
Written test with a maximum of 20 three-choice questions with one correct choice per question. This test is optional and is conceived to improve the marks obtained in a) and b).
Modality 2
Written exam with two sections. The first section consists of a maximum of 20 three-choice questions with one correct choice per question. The second section consists of 4 essay questions. The first section accounts for 30% of the mark and the second section accounts for 70% of the mark.
